UFC Sao Paulo Live Results

One fighter looks to lock his place among the upper echelon of the UFC’s light heavyweight contenders and potentially score a future title shot, while another looks to make a statement in his 205-pound debut at UFC Sao Paulo.

In the headline bout of the event at the Ginasio de Ibirapuera, Jan Blacohwicz welcomes Brazil’s own Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza to the division.

Blachowicz enters this fight coming off a highlight-reel knockout of another former middleweight standout, former champ Luke Rockhold, at UFC 239. Blachowicz has won five of his last six bouts, which also includes victories over Jared Cannonier and Jimi Manuwa.

Souza was at one point one of the more dominant middleweights in the sport, having held the Strikeforce middleweight title between August 2010 and September 2011, but his time in the UFC has seen him as more a gatekeeper for the division. Souza had hoped a win over Chris Weidman at UFC 230 would spark a title shot, but those hopes were dashed in his last fight, when he dropped a decision to Jack Hermansson at UFC Fort Lauderdale.

He now moves up to 205 for a potentially quicker path to a title shot in the later stages of his career.
