UFC Signs Undefeated Olympian And KO Artist Robelis Despaigne

The UFC has added another new signing, this time snapping up the Cuban Olympian Robelis Despaigne.

The 35-year-old MMA fighter remains undefeated with a record of 4-0-0. All four victories have come by way of first-round knockouts. In his last three fights, Despaigne needed a combined 19 seconds to earn KO wins. Despaigne stopped Miles Banks in just five seconds last Saturday at Fury FC 84, which earned him the UFC contract.

Despaigne’s success, however, has been long in the making. The fighter won a bronze medal in Taekwondo at the 2012 London Olympics. In addition, Despaigne’s physique has gone some way to helping him succeed at such a late age. Standing at 6’7 with an 87-inch reach, Despaigne has an advantage over the UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Bones’ reach stands at 84 inches, making Despaigne’s reach a new record for the UFC. It remains to be seen whether Despaigne can replicate this form in the UFC. However, based on the social media response, the signing has gotten MMA fans talking.
