UFC Takes A Jab At Conor McGregor’s Defeat To Dustin Poirier

The UFC official store has started selling the new Conor McGregor toys portraying the Irishman in his now-famous “Sleepy McGregor” moment after UFC 257.

McGregor met Dustin Poirier in their rematch at UFC 257 earlier this year.

Poirier avenged his loss against the Irishman by knocking him out in the second round of the fight. After the fight, the image of McGregor lying semi-conscious on the ground with his eyes closed and his hand under his head went viral and became meme material worldwide.

Later, McGregor and Poirier decided to sign the papers for their trilogy fight in July 2021. And the result was no different than the second one as the Poirier came out victorious after a doctor stoppage at the end of this first round.

McGregor suffered a broken tibia and was unable to continue.

But it seems like the memories of McGregor’s first defeat to Poirier are still flashing in the minds of the MMA fans and likewise, the UFC store has also jumped on the bandwagon as well.

The Conor McGregor toy is available from the MMA company’s website and is priced at $43 in USD and £30 in GBP.

There are a number of “Notorious” toys available in the UFC store, but the one vinyl figure that may irk the Irish fans comes under the description of “Kokies by Bait reimagines the ever-iconic Irish warrior Conor McGregor morphed into a toy variation with his signature smirk smile.”

After McGregor’s January loss, YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul missed no opportunity to mock the Irishman. Paul even created a customized $100,000 worth necklace to immortalize the pose. which the “Diamond” is hoping to auction for his “The Good Fight Foundation” charity drive.

Only time will tell whether the UFC meant poking fun at the veteran fighter’s infamous loss or not.
