UFC Targeting Sterling-Munhoz, Rivera-Yan For 238
Two big fights in the bantamweight division could potentially take place at UFC 238 this summer.
Aljamain Sterling vs. Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera vs. Petr Yan are scheduled for UFC 238 on June 8. The fights haven’t been signed just yet but have been verbally agreed.
Rivera is looking to get back in the win column and into title contention once more after losing two of his last three fights. Rivera is coming off a decision loss to Sterling back in February. Yan has been with the UFC since 2018 and has won all four of his fights with the promotion. Yan’s last fight took place at UFC Fight Night 145 in February when he defeated John Dodson by unanimous decision.
Sterling’s win over Rivera was his third straight and it is the second-longest win streak since signing with UFC in 2014. Munhoz is also on a three-fight win streak, coming off a first-round knockout win over Cody Garbrandt at UFC 235 back in March.
UFC 238 will take place at United Center in Chicago and the company already announced that current flyweight champion Henry Cejudo will fight Marlon Moraes for the vacant bantamweight title. Valentina Shevchenko vs. Jessica Eye for the UFC women’s flyweight title is set for the co-main event of UFC 238.
