UFC To Axe Demian Maia, Jimmie Rivera Soon

UFC stars Demian Maia and Jimmie Rivera are reportedly on the verge of being axed from the organization.

They have run out of fights on their contracts and the UFC doesn’t seem interested in extending or renewing their contracts for a while.

The news was brought to attention by MMAJunkie’s John Morgan. Citing a UFC official, the journalist claimed that both fighters have been removed from the UFC roster.

Maia, an MMA veteran, should be expecting the decision.

He is on a two-fight losing streak and has not put up stellar performances inside the octagon lately. Earlier, UFC President Dana White had too indicated that the management has no plans of handing Maia more fights.

As for Rivera, the 32-year-old has enjoyed massive success outside of the UFC, but he has failed to make a big impact in the organization. He took off after his debut in 2015 against Pedro Munhoz.

2018 was a year to not forget for him. He was 5-0 in the UFC until he faced Marlon Moraes.

His career has since been rather lop-sided and inconsistent. In his last fight against Munhoz this February, the bantamweight fighter lost via unanimous decision.
