UFC Uruguay Live Results

Back in 2010, two fighters were starting out their careers. Liz Carmouche, then 5-0, beat the young Valentina Shevchenko via TKO, ending her seven-fight streak. Times and changed and now they both meet again, with Shevchenko as the UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion looking to get even. UFC Fight Night 156 takes place inside the Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Shevchenko (17-3) is looking for her third win in a row while also trying for her second successful title defense. Beating Joanna Jędrzejczyk for the vacant title back at UFC 231, Valentina returned to the octagon to face Jessica Eye at UFC 238 in June. She won the bout via second-round KO. 5-1 in her last six fights, a Valentina win could prove she is one of the best the UFC has to offer.

Both have had different runs in MMA since their last bout. Carmouche (13-6), originally a bantamweight contender, unsuccessfully challenged Ronda Rousey for the UFC’s Women’s Bantamweight Title and Marloes Coenen for the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Title.  She is on a two-fight win streak, beating Lucie Pudilova via unanimous decision back in February. 4-1 in her last five, a Carmouche win can result in a 2-0 record against Valentina plus her first taste of MMA gold.
