UFC Vegas 42: Max Holloway Batters Yair Rodriguez, Both Sent To Hospital
Max Holloway solidified his top contender status by adding another win, but Yair Rodriguez didn’t let him get it easily.
Holloway (23-6) defeated Rodriguez (14-3, 1 NC) by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Vegas 42 Saturday night. This was a highly anticipated battle and the fighters’ proved it to be so.

In the first two rounds, Rodriguez landed huge kicks and punches while avoiding some of Holloway’s attacks.
Rodriguez damaged Holloway’s front leg. However, “The Blessed” Holloway managed to earn the victory in the championship round.

Holloway landed some massive takedowns and earned points on the judge’s scorecards. Holloway needed takedowns to win the fight, showing how good Rodriguez is in striking.
Two of the judges scored the fight 48-47 and one scored the fight 49-46.
Both fighters were transferred to the hospital and could not attend the post-fight press conference.

In the co-main event, Ben Rothwell suffered a brutal first-round knockout loss against Brazilian fighter Marcos Rogério de Lima.
