UFC Vegas 47: Sean Strickland Outlasts Jack Hermansson
Sean Strickland continues his rise in the middleweight division.
Strickland met Jack Hermansson in the headlining battle of UFC Vegas 47, the third event of the year. Strickland added another win to his resume via split decision.
In the first two rounds, Hermansson was active and was moving a lot, landing great punches and low kicks. At the end of the second round, Strickland dropped him with his right hand just a second before the bell, but it was not a knockdown, Hermansson lost balance.

Ever since the third round, Strickland started dominating and landing lots of punches. His main weapon was the jab. Hermansson tried takedowns seven times and failed in all the attempts, but he landed several good punches and broke Strickland’s nose too.
The judges could not agree on two rounds, because two judges scored that fight 49-46, while the rest of the judicial commission saw this fight as 47-48 for Hermansson.
We witnessed another split decision at the co-main event. Nick Maximov earned a victory against Punahele Soriano. Maximov remained undefeated, and Soriano witnessed his second loss in a row.
Shavkat Rakhmonov proved once again that he is the future of the welterweight division. He defeated Carlston Harris via knockout and spinning hook kick. He demonstrated that he was dangerous both on the stand and on the ground.
Brendan Allen took the fight on short notice and earned another victory against Sam Alvey. It will not affect his rankings because this fight was held at light heavyweight.
In the first round, Allen was on a high level, and in the second round, he faked the body shot and landed a massive left hook.
He defeated Alvey via submission rear-naked choke. It was the eighth fight in a row for Alvey without celebrating victory.
