UFC Vegas 67: Sean Strickland Decisions Nassourdine Imavov On Short Notice

Even on short notice, Sean Strickland was able to pull out a win.

The headlining bout of UFC Vegas 67 was originally scheduled for Nassourdine Imavov and Kelvin Gastelum, but because of a jaw injury, Gastelum was forced to withdraw. Strickland replaced him on a four-day notice – which changed the weight limit from middleweight to light heavyweight — but he still managed to defeat his opponent by unanimous decision.

Strickland put the pressure for 25 minutes, and Imavov started getting really tired after the second round.

In the final round, Imavov found some energy to exchange punches and maybe even won the round on one of the judge’s scorecards, but it was not enough.

Strickland went back to the winning column. In his last two fights, he lost by split decision to Jared Cannonier and was knocked out by Alex Pereira.

In the co-main event, Dan Ige destroyed Damon Jackson with a brutal liver shot. In the latest six battles, Jackson suffered only one loss against Ilia Topuria, and liver shots were a problem in that battle too.

Umar Nurmagomedov earned a knockout victory against Raoni Barcelos in the final seconds of the first round. Nurmagomedov did not even attempt to wrestle and started striking.
