UFC Welterweight Belal Muhammad Still Eager For Leon Edwards Rematch

Belal Muhammad, 33, is poised to get his rematch against Leon Edwards after their first meeting at UFC Vegas 21 ended in a no-contest after Rocky had poked his finger in Muhammad’s eye. Both fighters, especially Muhammad was in disbelief to the March fight end in a no contest. Moreover, he did not like Edward’s statements after the fight. Both fighters had much respect for each other in the buildup to the first showdown, but that seems highly unlikely if they meet inside the octagon again anytime soon.

They last competed at UFC 263 where both fighters grabbed a win via unanimous decision. Muhammad is coming off a victory against Damian Maia while Rocky defeated Nate Diaz after a lop-sided last round which left the fans at the edge of their seats.

Edwards was hoping for a title shot against Kamaru Usman, but he will have to wait for Colby Covington’s turn. It’s in his best interest to take the Muhammad rematch instead of waiting for the UFC to decide who gets a shot at the welterweight strap.

“I mean the only name that doesn’t fight is Leon and honestly for me, it makes the most sense out of any of those fights for both of us if you really think about it,” Belal Muhammad told TMZ in a recent interview.
