UFC Will Return to France, Dana White Confirms
Coming off the heels of an electric UFC Fight Night 209 at the Accor Arena in Paris, Dana White confirms that the UFC will return to France, but likely not at the City of Lights.
Paris UFC fans were able to witness their hometown favorite and former interim heavyweight camp, Ciryl Gane, knockout Tai Tuivasa in the third round of the main event.
Citing the tremendous feedback from fans, White stated he expects that they will be back soon.
“It was incredible,” White said. “The energy was probably as big and as badass as anything we’ve ever done. There was a lot of pent-up demand (for MMA) and frustration in France, and you felt it on Saturday night.”
He continued to confirm that although he would like to return to Paris eventually, it is not guaranteed that the next event in the country will be hosted there. Most likely, it will go to a different, smaller city such as Lyon or Marseille.
“We’ve got to figure out what’s next, but you know how we like to do it: We like to move it around,” White said. “So, we’ll probably do a different city – maybe a Fight Night or something in a different city (in France), and then head out there with a big pay-per-view in Paris again.”
