Undercard For Stevenson-Marriaga MSG Fight Set
It won’t just be Shakur Stevenson who is looking to make a name for himself inside Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater on March 14. 22-year-old Edgar Berlanga will return to New York for an eight-round super-middleweight fight.
Berlanga’s (13-0) opponent has not been announced yet. Called “The Chosen One”, Berlanga has won all of his bouts via knockout. He last fought in December inside the main theater of Madison Square Garden, beating Cesar Nunez via TKO. He recently signed a long-term deal with Top Rank.
“Hopefully, I can get in some rounds on March 14,” Berlanga stated. “I want to show everyone I’m more than a one-round fighter. This is my time to shine.”
Other bouts on the card include:
- John Bauza (13-0) of New Jersey taking on Brooklyn’s Romain Tomas (8-3, 1 KO) in an eight-round super-lightweight contest.
- With 10 knockouts to his name, Frederic Julian (12-0) will look for his 11th in a row against Victor Darocha (9-5-1).
- Mathew Gonzalez (10-0) of Ridgewood will look to stop Dakota Linger (12-3-2) of West Virginia.
- New York’s Pablo Valdez (3-0) will look for his fourth knockout win when he faces Jordan Morales (3-7). Valdez may be new to the sport, but he isn’t considered a prospect. Following an eight-year prison sentence, he joined the world of boxing.
The undercard bouts will be streamed on ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET. The main card will be live at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The co-main event of the night will be Jessie Magdaleno v. Sakaria Lukas. Stevenson will be facing off against Miguel Marriaga.
