Update On UFC On ESPN 15 Fight Card
Normally, fighters pulling out of fight cards would be worrisome based on timing and the potential planning of future matchups. Luckily for Dwight Grant and Daniel Rodriguez, they were at the right place at the right time.
Both Grant and Rodriguez were scheduled for two separate bouts this weekend, August 22 at UFC on ESPN 15. Unfortunately, Grant’s opponent in Calen Born and Rodriguez’s opponent in Takashi Sato had to back out due to undisclosed reasons. According to MMA Junkie, the two welterweights will now face off against one another.
Grant (10-2) made his professional debut in 2011. Winning a fight on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018, Grant joined the UFC that year. While he lost his debut bout, the 35-year-old would then win two in a row. His last bout was a split decision win in April 2019 against Alan Jouban.
Rodrguez (12-1) is also a Contender Series alum, fighting in 2019 for a contract. The former Combate Americas star is 2-0 in the UFC since the start of 2020. His last bout was a unanimous decision win over Gabriel Green back in May.
UFC on ESPN 15 will be taking place inside the UFC APEX Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event will see Frankie Edgar’s bantamweight debut against Pedro Munhoz.
