Usman Nurmagomedov Sidelined With Injury, Bellator Paris Fight Card Updated

This May’s Bellator Championship Series event in Paris has undergone a dramatic change, following the news of Usman Nurmagomedov’s recent injury.

The reining 155-pound champion was set to make his first competitive appearance since October 2023 on May 17th versus Alexandr Shabliy, but an unavoidable circumstance has changed the plan of action.

Shabliy is undefeated in his five bouts under the banner of Bellator, with two of those five coming by way of knockout. He has been eagerly awaiting his title shot since his victory last November over Patricky Pitbull, but now the wait will have to continue.

As a result of the cancelled match, the bantamweight championship contest between Patchy Mix and Magomed Magomedov has been promoted to the main event slot. Additionally, former Glory Kickboxing champion Cedric Doumbe will now make his Bellator Championship Series debut in a welterweight bout versus Derek Anderson to add to the excitement.

Bellator Champions Series: Paris will go down May 17th live from Accor Arena in Paris, France, and is currently set to include a total of 10 fights. For the American audience, the event will be available on Max, with broadcasts on DAZN for residents of the U.K. and France.
