Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) has officially opened his training camp for his May 23 clash against kickboxer Rico Verhoeven in Egypt.
Usyk will be having his first fight since stopping Daniel Dubois last July to become the undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time. After undergoing back surgery, he vacated his WBO belt, as Fabio Wardley is now the full champion. The first “behind-the-scenes” footage of the champion back in the gym can be seen below. Usyk is focusing on his movement, as he moves around while hitting a reflex bag.

While Usyk refines his footwork, Verhoeven has appointed Peter Fury—the mastermind behind Tyson Fury’s 2015 upset of Wladimir Klitschko—as his head trainer for this camp.
