Former undisputed heavyweight champion says he plans to end his career with a farewell fight against Deontay Wilder, although another potential opponent remains on the table.
Usyk has confirmed talks with Zuffa Boxing as plans develop for what he is calling his “last dance.”
“If Deontay’s team wants it, I do it. Money, business… now we have two options,” Usyk said.
Wilder has been linked with Usyk for several months, and the matchup would give the Ukrainian another major heavyweight name after fights with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
However, Usyk revealed that a second opponent is also being considered, meaning the Wilder fight has not yet been finalized.
The bigger question may be whether Usyk actually walks away afterward.
The 39-year-old has repeatedly discussed nearing the end of his career and acknowledged the physical toll of competing at the highest level.
“I’m not made of iron, I am not an alien. I have a family, my sons, my daughters,” Usyk said.
For now, Wilder remains one of the options for Usyk’s planned farewell fight, but whether the matchup happens, and whether it truly becomes Usyk’s “last dance,” remains to be seen.
