Usyk Does Not Scare Tony Bellew
Saturday night when Oleksander Usyk attempted to intimidate Tony Bellew, all the former champion could do was laugh.
“He is what he is,” Bellew told Sky Sports of his November 10th opponent. “He does what he says on the tin and he’s a big dude, and yes, he tried to intimidate me. But I am not scared of him at all.
“Of course he tried to get me in that staredown. But if he thinks that is going to do anything to me, never mind get me worried, he is just a big fool.”
Bellew walks into Manchester Arena with confidence, but the odds are against the 35 year old on November 10th. Usyk would give Murat Gassiev his first career loss in the finals of the World Boxing Super Series and become the undisputed cruiserweight champion.
While Bellew had two impressive showings against David Haye, he’s not fought at cruiserweight since 2013, and moving down in weight may be a problem for the former champion, but he’s not scared.
“I am not scared of anyone, certainly not Usyk,” Bellew said. “He can give me that crazy Ukrainian look, so I just gave him a crazy Scouse one back. He can do what he wants. I have been written off throughout my whole life, so it’s nothing new.”
