Usyk Finds Opponent For Heavyweight Debut

Last week it seemed that Andrey Fedosov rejected an offer to fight Oleksandr Usyk on October 12th in Chicago, Illinois.

The tune seems to have changed, as a report from Boxing Scene has revealed that the Russian fighter has signed to face the former undisputed cruiserweight champion in Usyk’s debut at heavyweight.

Usyk was set to debut at heavyweight back in May against Carlos Takam, but suffered a torn bicep while training for the fight and be given the status of the mandatory challenger for Andy Ruiz Jr’s WBO world heavyweight championship.

Usyk and Matchroom Boxing attempted to lock in Takam for a rescheduled fight, but negotiations broke down when Takam signed with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing, slowing down any momentum to have the former world title challenger welcome Usyk to the division.
