Usyk Names His New Pick For World’s Best Boxer

When Terence Crawford retired in December 20025, he was the consensus number one pound for pound fighter in the world, and unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk was in 100% agreement with that. However now that “Bud” is no longer active in the sport, Usyk has taken that number 1 spot, however he believes that instead of himself being atop the list, it should be someone else.

Usyk named the current #4-ranked Shakur Stevenson (25-0) as his pick for the best fighter in the world,  following his dominant victory over Teofimo Lopez to become a four-division world champion. Usyk said ““Thank you so much [to] people who support me, but I cannot say [the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter is] me. Now, maybe it’s Shakur.”

The knock on Stevenson has always been level of opposition and an unwillingness to take risks. Whether that criticism is fair or not, a clean win over a big name at 140 and Usyk’s public endorsement as the sport’s best may do a great deal to shift that narrative.

Here is the current list of the top 10m pound for round fighters:

1. Oleksandr Usyk

2. Naoya Inoue

3. Jesse Rodriguez

T-4. Dmitry Bivol

T-4. Shakur Stevenson

6. Artur Beterbiev

7. David Benavidez

8. Junto Nakatani

9. Devin Haney

10. Canelo Alvarez
