Usyk Stops Dubois In The Fifth To Become 2x Undisputed Heavyweight Champion
Oleksandr Usyk stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth round to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion for the second time and a three-time undisputed champ overall.
Usyk secured his second win over Dubois, this time in decisive fashion, to put the controversy of the low blow body shot from the first fight behind him. Usyk used his trademark footwork and feints to frustrate Dubois early on. He landed a left hook and a three-punch combination to win the opening round.
Dubois landed a right hand midway through the second round, but Usyk quickly answered back with a hard left that pushed Dubois back. Dubois found success with his right hand again in the third, but Usyk countered with a heavy left. It was a closer round, but Usyk’s quality showed.
Usyk began to take control, landing a clipping right hook and an overhand left in the fourth. Dubois was now walking onto punches. And Usyk turned it up in the fifth. He dropped him with a right hook and then finished the job with a left hook on the counter, as the referee waved it off. Usyk then called out Tyson Fury, Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua, and Joseph Parker as potential opponents. Meanwhile, Jake Paul faced off against Usyk in the ring, stating his desire to face Usyk in an MMA fight.
