Usyk Targeting One Opponent After Wilder For Final Career Fight

Oleksandr Usyk (25-0, 16 KOs) could finish his career by fighting a familiar rival.

The unbeaten heavyweight is expected to return to the ring against Deontay Wilder (45-4-1, 43 KOs), with both camps considering March, 2027, as a target date for the bout.

While it was initially thought to be a retirement fight for Usyk, the fighter’s team is instead exploring an additional fight beyond Wilder — reportedly a trilogy fight with Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs).

Usyk has beaten Fury twice already; a split decision win on May 18, 2024, followed by a more convincing unanimous decision win on December 21, that same year. He’d previously beaten Anthony Joshua twice, in 2021 and 2022, and Daniel Dubois twice in 2023 and 2025.

Fury, meanwhile, broke a short-lived retirement following his back-to-back defeats to Usyk by beating Arslanbek Makhmudov by decision on April 11, 2026, ahead of a seventh-round retirement of Mariusz Wach on July 24. He is linked with an all-British bout against Joshua but it is currently unclear if that fight will go ahead as had been planned on November 20, if it will get pushed back, or if Fury will keep the date and fight somebody else, instead.

Usyk’s team earlier in the year said a third fight with Fury had little appeal, but has since seemingly reconsidered their stance.
