Usyk Will Defend His Titles Against Dubois On August 26 – Says Alex Krassyuk
Oleksandr Usyk will face Daniel Dubois on August 26th, 2023, as he defends his IBF, WBA & WBO titles from the Stadion Wroclaw, Tarczynski Arena, Wroclaw, Poland.
The bout is crucial in more ways than none. Fighting in Poland will still provide Usyk with a home advantage, as his country of Ukraine deals with the devastating consequences of the Russian conflict.
Not only that, but victory will keep the Ukrainian’s hope of becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion alive.
Usyk was forced to face his WBA mandatory after talks over an undisputed bout with Tyson Fury broke down, despite him agreeing to a 70-30 split.
However, a win will boost hopes that a mega-fight with Fury can be made in Saudi Arabia, especially since Usyk has now signed with Skill Challenge Promotions.
In contrast, Dubois returns following his last fight over Kevin Lerena. Despite hitting the canvas on three occasions, Dubois won by stoppage.
But in doing so, it turned out that he had injured his knee. While it has healed for him to be able to compete, facing Usyk will be the ultimate test.
With that being said, Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, was looking forward to the match-up.
“He’s Young, he has a dynamite in his gloves, he’s hungry, he’s looking for fame for Glory, and he’s looking for recognition.
“This guy is dangerous, that’s why. We can’t say that his boxing skills are higher than Usyk, but we cannot afford to disregard his positive side. He’s really strong, he’s really motivated, and he’s a heavyweight. He’s a real heavyweight with a strong punch.
“There is no difference for him who he is fighting. Whether he’s fighting Daniel Dubois or his fighting Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury, his preparation for his training camp remains the same.
“No one is dangerous for him. That is his mindset. That is how he is created, and that is his real attitude to training,” Krassyuk
