Vacant Atomweight Title Fight Set For Invicta FC 30

With Ayaka Hamasaki vacating the Invicta atomweight title, Invicta has announced the two fighters competing for the vacant title at Invicta FC 30.

The company announced that Jinh Yu Frey will fight Minna Grusander for the vacant atomweight title at the Invicta FC 30 event. The event is scheduled to take place on July 21 at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City.

Frey’s last fight saw her lose to former UFC strawweight Seo Hee Ham last December by first-round TKO at the ROAD FC 45 event in South Korea. Frey’s last win came in last summer when she scored a unanimous decision win over Ashley Cummins at Invicta FC 24. Before that fight, Frey had actually challenged for the Invicta atomweight title, losing to Hamasaki in 2016 by doctor stoppage due to a cut.

Grusander, a 6-1 fighter from Finland, has won four straight fights and is coming off a second-round TKO win over Fernanda Priscilla at Invicta FC 28 in her last fight.

The title was previously held by Hamasaki, who is now competing for Rizin FF and will fight on the May 6 Rizin FF event against Alyssa Garcia in Fukuoka, Japan. No other fights for the Invicta FC 30 card has been announced.
