Valentina Shevchenko has given fans a positive update on the injury she suffered during her fight with Alexa Grasso at Noche UFC on Mexican Independence Day.
In a highly-controversial result, Mike Bell’s 10-8 scorecard for Grasso in the final round resulted in a split draw. That divided the MMA community, with many feeling that Shevchenko had done enough to win three rounds. In the aftermath, the calls for a rematch from Dana White and Shevchenko began to grow. However, Shevchenko let on that she had injured her thumb during the fight, even if she managed to go the distance. The initial diagnosis was that the injury would keep the ‘Bullet’ out of action for around three months before she could do any training. However, following her surgery, she had some positive news to share.
Yesterday my hand surgery went well. Now focusing on recovery 💪

Despite this being the case, the injury appeared quite extensive. The former flyweight champion spoke about her bones being ‘crushed,’ a remarkable admission in that the MMA fighter did not let it impact her performance. And yet, there was no denying that the initial aftermath of the surgery was a difficult process to get through.
But doctor said it was challenging to unite the crushed bones.
