VanZant Injured Again, Off UFC Brasilia
Paige VanZant’s last fight of her current UFC contract has been pushed back again, as for the third straight year an injury has sidelined the popular fighter.
Last seen submitting Rachael Ostovich at UFC Brooklyn last January, VanZant has suffered another break of her surgically repaired left arm, which left her no chance of returning in 2019.
VanZant was set to face Amanda Ribas inside the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium on March 14th for UFC Brasilia, but was pulled on Thursday and replaced with Randa Markos per a report from Combate.
VanZant is on the last fight of her current deal. and has publicly said that she makes more money from being an Instagram influencer than she does inside the Octagon, which has created a rift with UFC management about a new deal.
Those issues coupled with her refusal to fight Maycee Barber, who allegedly slid into the DM’s of VanZant’s husband, Bellator fighter Austin Vanderford, have developed a level of uncertainty for VanZant’s future as a UFC fighter.
Markos was last seen in the Octagon this past October taking a split-decision win over Ashley Yoder at UFC Singapore, while Ribas has won two straight for the Endeavor owned brand, her last being an upset win over Mackenzie Dern at UFC Tampa.
