VanZant: More Money From IG Than UFC

Paige VanZant may see more money sitting on her couch than she does standing inside the Octagon and may decide to stay there after the end of her contract.

VanZant, who has one fight left on her deal with the Endeavor owned promotion, is on the mend from her third arm surgery in under two years, fighting only once since January 2018.

VanZant, who appeared on Dancing With The Stars, as well as a featured model in the 2019 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, feels the brand she’s curated through social media is more valuable than what the UFC pays her.

“I make way more money sitting at home, posting pictures on Instagram, than I do fighting,” VanZant, who has 2.2 million followers on the platform told Ariel Helwani. “When I did my contract negotiation the last time, the talk was, ‘I can’t pay you more than a female champion.’ Okay, but why are you comparing me to just women? All of us should be getting paid more in general.”

“I want a significant pay raise, to be completely honest,” the 8-4 VanZant said. “I’ve just been extremely accomplished outside of the UFC, as well as inside of the UFC. Five wins in the UFC, four finishes, I’ve been [in the] main event twice, and I think someone with those accolades should be paid more.”
