VanZant Ready To Return Following Surgery
Following a series of injuries that have halted her career, Paige VanZant appears to be back on track.
The UFC Strawweight posted on social media that she got her cast taken off. Following an arm injury that she was healing from, Paige revealed she had another fracture in the right arm, requiring surgery on it once again.
“CAST IS OFF 100%!!!! LET’S FREAKING GO!!!! Training is in full effect (in my garage with my husband) lol First thing first, let’s heal the world, after that I’m coming to fight”
Paige (8-4) is on a one-fight win streak, having last fought in January. She beat Rachael Ostovich via submission, coming into the fight with a preexisting injury. She suffered that at the hands of Jessica-Rose Clark in January 2018, forcing her to wait a year to compete. “12 Gauge” is 2-3 in her last five fights.
Prior to missing action, VanZant was supposed to face Amanda Ribas at UFC on ESPN+ 28 in Brasilia. Ribas ended up facing Randa Markos, beating her via unanimous decision. She ended up calling out VanZant, hoping to get the planned fight going again. She is not the first person to call Paige out, as Maycee Barber has also requested to fight the 25-year-old.
VanZant is still waiting to compete on the last fight of her UFC contract. She has expressed interest in exploring free agency. Her husband, Austin Vanderford, currently fights for Bellator.
