Vasiliy Lomachenko Not Fazed By Teofimo Lopez’s Words
Ahead of the big title unification clash, Vasiliy Lomachenko isn’t bothered by Teofimo Lopez.
Lomachenko vs. Lopez is a massive boxing match that’ll air live on the major ESPN network and FIGHT SPORTS in over 50 countries worldwide. Lomachenko will be putting his WBA (Super) Lightweight Title on the line for the fourth time and it’ll be his third WBO Title defense. Lopez’s IBF gold will also be on the line.
In the buildup to the fight, Lopez hasn’t been shy in attempting to ruffle the feathers of Lomachenko. Speaking to reporters during a Zoom call, Lomachenko insisted he isn’t fazed by Lopez’s trash talk.
“Absolutely not. I have a goal, I have a dream and he holds a belt, [the] IBF Title. I need this belt and Saturday, October 17, I will try [to] take this belt.”
In terms of Lopez’s plan to score a knockout win is concerned, Lomachenko said we won’t have to wait long to find out if it’s all talk.
“I heard this a lot of times from a lot of boxers. But then when you get in the ring, you forgot about your words and you forgot about what you promised. You just try boxing and you just try boxing, so for me it’s just trash talk. For me, it’s just words. We’ll see what happens in the ring.”
The winner of this bout will be just one title away from holding all the major lightweight gold in boxing. The missing piece is the WBC Championship, which is currently held by Devin Haney.
