Vasiliy Lomachenko-Richard Commey Bout Expected For December
The reported Vasiliy Lomachenko and Richard Commey fight is just a few months away.
Lomachenko (15-2, 11 KOs) is expected to take on Commey (30-3, 27 KOs) on December 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Dan Rafael reported the potential fight back in July. Contracts have yet to be finalized.
This would be Lomachenko’s second consecutive fight against one of Teofimo Lopez’s victims. Commey lost to Lopez in 2019 via TKO.
Lomachenko, a former three-division world champion, last stopped Masayoshi Nakatani in the ninth round in June. Nakatani lost to Lopez in 2019 via unanimous decision.
The Ukrainian boxer lost to Lopez in 2020 via unanimous decision in a WBA, IBF and WBO world title fight. Lopez said last week he doesn’t plan to rematch.
If finalized, the December matchup would by Commey’s first fight since February where he knocked out Jackson Marinez.
Commey might pose a threat to the Ukrainian boxer with his big punches, but Lomachenko has some power of his own and was previously dubbed to have the “best feet” in boxing.
