Vergil Ortiz Jr. Files To Dissolve Golden Boy Promotions’ Restraining Order

Earlier this week, a judge approved Golden Boy Promotions’ temporary restraining order against Vergil Ortiz Jr, but now the interim super welterweight titleholder has filed to challenge the order.

The temporary restraining order was put in place to block Ortiz from signing any third-party promotional deals, which resulted in the planned fight with Jaron “Boots” Ennis falling apart for the time being.

According to reports, the fight between Ortiz and Ennis was nearly finalized, with a date of April 18th in Las Vegas. Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions filed the restraining order once they had learned that Ortiz had intentions of working with other promoters for this bout, which is well within his rights. The same reports indicated that Ortiz had received massive offers from Matchroom Boxing and other promotions that he was forced to leave on the table.
