Vergil Ortiz KOs Dulorme, Gears Up For Tszyu Fight

Vergil Ortiz Jr. stopped Thomas Dulorme in the first round to take his record to 21-0 with 21 KOs.

The fight occurred at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California, on April 27. Coming into the fight, Ortiz only boxed one round in two years. His previous fight was a first-round KO win over Fredrick Lawson. That was Ortiz’s first fight at 154 since moving up from 147 since he could no longer make welterweight following health issues with rhabdomyolysis.

He did not look like a rusty fighter, dropping Dulorme with a left hook to the body in the first round. His opponent could not beat the count, giving Ortiz a decisive win. He has a quick turnaround with a fight against Tim Tszyu on August 3. It occurs on the Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov card. Ortiz is ready for the challenge ahead.

“I’m very happy. It was a very calculated shot. I can’t really explain it in words. I just feel [when to throw punches like that]. I heard him make a sound, and the way he fell, I knew it was over. Hey, Tim. I know you’re watching. I’m ready for you. Let’s get ready for World War III. Let’s put on the best show for the people,” Ortiz said
