Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis traded barbs over the phone.
Garcia has made his intentions clear. He’s gunning for a showdown with WBA (Regular) Lightweight Champion Gervonta Davis. “KingRy” is coming off his interim WBC Lightweight Title win over Luke Campbell. While Garcia can go after Devin Haney’s WBC gold, he’d rather share the ring with “Tank.”
Davis was last seen in action back in October 2020. He scored a highlight-reel knockout over Leo Santa Cruz. Not only did Davis retain his Lightweight gold but he also regained the WBA (Super) Super-Featherweight Title.
Davis is aware of Garcia’s desire to fight him. The two have gone back-and-forth on social media. Garcia has been promising that he would knock out Davis within two rounds if they fight.
Garcia appeared on Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson and he ended up having a verbal exchange with Davis over the phone. Garcia had the following to say.
“Two rounds, baby. Two rounds, I don’t care you on pause. Two rounds you’re going to sleep. Hey, it’s not gonna hurt I promise you it’s not gonna hurt. I don’t care what you got. Yeah, yeah all that. You better open up. You’re gonna need a ladder to hit me.”
Davis laughed throughout Garcia’s rant and responded.
“He got dropped by somebody that can’t even hit. If I would’ve hit him, you know I would’ve killed him after that.”
