Volkan Oezdemir Arrested in Florida
Volkan Oezdemir has been one of the UFC’s fastest-rising stars, but he could be in trouble after being arrested for aggravated battery Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

According to a report in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the 28-year-old Oezdemir was in a fight with a man named Kevin Cohen. Cohen sustained swelling and received cuts on his head from the fight, it was said at the hearing.
The alleged incident took place at an unnamed Fort Lauderdale bar. Oezdemir’s attorney, Bruce A. Zimet, described the incident as a bar room altercation and said Oezdemir was not the aggressor and was totally justified in his actions.
The report stated that it was unclear what prompted the fight.
Oezdemir was arrested by Fort Lauderdale police and charged with aggravated battery causing serious bodily injury — a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $10,000 according to records from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
he 28-year-old Oezdemir currently trains with the Combat Club team in Lantana, Fla., though he hails from Switzerland. He sports a 15-1 professional record, including a 3-0 UFC mark. In his last two outings, Oezdemir knocked out both of his opponents in under a minute.
