Alexander Volkanovski (26-2), the UFC’s featherweight king, has indicated that he will have his next contest in the first part of 2024.
The 145-pound champion last fought at UFC 290 in July, where he stopped Yair Rodriguez (16-4) with strikes in round 3, and successfully defended his title.

Prior to his latest title defense, he moved up to the lightweight division to challenge Islam Makhachev (24-1) for the 155-pound title at UFC 284. Volkanovski fell short of double-champ status on the judges’ scorecards, but the competitiveness he showed at a higher weight kept him at the top of many pound-for-pound rankings lists.
While many names for his next bout have been circulating, including a rematch with Makhachev, who of course is currently scheduled to fight Charles Oliveira (34-9) in October, no concrete information has been released. But, that didn’t stop ‘The Great’ from teasing his potential January return over social media.
