MMA legend Wanderlei Silva has become the latest to sign a deal with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships, per a report from FanSided’s Amy Kaplan.
Neither Silva’s signing, nor his first fight for the promotion, has been confirmed. All that, along with an introduction of Silva to the BKFC audience, may take place on October 19 at BKFC 8.
Silva last competed at Bellator 206 last year, getting knocked out by Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Upon receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Fighters Only World MMA Awards this summer, and an admission late last year to dealing with CTE, it appeared Silva would never fight again.
Silva was one of the faces of PRIDE, being the inaugural middleweight champion and holding the belt for about six years, while gaining the records for most wins, knockouts, title defenses and more. After PRIDE, Silva joined the UFC, where he earned five Fight of the Night honors and two Knockout of the Night bonuses.
Silva competed in bare-knuckle fighting at the very start of his career, scoring two back-to-back KO/TKO victories.
BKFC 8 will be headlined by fellow MMA veterans Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Gabriel Gonzaga.
