Warrington-Frampton Set for Dec. 22

A verbal agreement is reportedly in place for a fight between IBF Featherweight Champion Josh Warrington and interim WBO Featherweight Champion Carl Frampton.

The fight is scheduled to take place on Dec. 22 from Manchester Arena in England. Warrington’s IBF Title will be on the line.

The undefeated Warrington won the title from Lee Selby with a split decision back in May, and this will be his first defense of the title. Frampton, with a record of 26-1, last won the interim title back in April with a unanimous decision over Nonito Donaire, and he retained the title in his last outing — a ninth-round TKO of Luke Jackson.

This may be Warrington’s biggest test, considering he is taking on a two-division world champion. Frampton, meanwhile, has previously stated he sees gaining another championship as leverage for a trilogy bout with Leo Santa Cruz.
