WATCH: Boxer Suffers Gnarly Jaw Injury (GRAPHIC)

A boxer suffered a horrific jaw injury this week.

Ben Hussain, a boxer fighting out of Australia, took on Ben Mahoney this past Thursday, October 22. In the second round, Mahoney landed a left hook that knocked Hussain’s mouthpiece out. It also ended up breaking his jaw.

Hussain pushed through the injury all the way until the end of the sixth round. At that point, the doctor told Hussain, “Your jaw is broken mate. I mean it’s badly broken, we’ve got to stop it,” (via FOX Sports Australia). Mahoney was awarded the TKO victory.

Take a look at the damage to Hussain’s jaw but be warned, it is graphic.

Commentator Ben Damon heaped praise on Hussain for having the wherewithal to push through the pain of his broken jaw, which the commentators thought was a cut tongue at first due to the blood.

“What we think we saw with his mouth did not look good. We thought it might have been a cut tongue or laceration inside the mouth. But it is a broken jaw and with that being said, Benjamin Hussain has shown he’s otherworldly tough.

“He’s gone through the vast majority of this fight with what appears to be a very, very badly damaged mouth and jaw.”
