Watch: ‘Bruised’ First Trailer Shows Halle Berry, Valentina Shevchenko

Fans of Halle Berry and MMA are just weeks away from “Bruised” premiering on Netflix, and the streaming platform dropped its first trailer to bring up the hype.

The trailer briefly walks through the redemption story of Berry’s character, Jackie “Justice” in under three minutes. The dramatic, yet thrilling sneak peek also showed UFC’s women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko meet Berry’s character in the octagon.

Along with starring in “Bruised,” the movie is also Berry’s first directorial effort. The 2002 Best Actress Oscar winner worked with screenwriter Michelle Rosenfarb to rework Jackie Justice.

Originally, the character was a 25-year-old Irish woman from Boston, but now she’s a middle-aged Black woman from New York.

Berry and Rosenfarb extensively interviewed women fighters in the UFC to portray Jackie accurately.

Berry, 55, also trained with Shevchenko and former UFC title contender Brian Ortega. Shevchenko said the actress has the skills to seriously compete in the sport.

“…she has the skills and level, and you will see it when the movie is released,” Shevchenko said.

The film premieres November 24 on Netflix.
