Canelo Alvarez was not interested in a fight with UFC middleweight Jorge Masvidal, but the two-division world boxing champion has seemed to have changed his tune.
“For business, why not?!” Canelo told TMZ while in Los Angeles for the holiday season.
While Alvarez and Masvidal have a litany of options inside their respective sports, especially Alvarez who holds titles at middleweight and super middleweight, and won a light heavyweight championship back in November against Sergey Kovalev, a cross-sport fight between the two stars could make for a huge mega event.
While the hypothetical fight is great barroom conversation, the blood feud between UFC President Dana White and Golden Boy Founder/Alvarez’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya would most likely be the biggest hurdle for either side to jump over to make a fight happen.
