Cody Pfister scored a rear-naked choke submission victory over Jonathan Gary at the Bellator 174 prelims on Friday night. It turned out to be his only bout for the promotion.
Pfister, following his win, announced to the Bellator crowd in Thackerville, Oklahoma, that he would be hanging up the gloves for good.
After waiting approximately 5 years, picking up an 11-3-1 record in smaller promotions, Pfister signed with the UFC and debuted at a Fight Night event held on Feb. 4, 2015, when he lost James Moontasri via submission. He would get his first, and only, UFC win at UFC 189 later that year when he defeated Yosdenis Cedeno.
Following back-to-back losses to Sage Northcutt and Scott Holtzman, Pfister was cut by the UFC. He then signed with Bellator, and had his match with Gary last night.
