Conor McGregor is getting his training camp going for a rematch with Dustin Poirier.
McGregor vs. Poirier II hasn’t been made official but the bout was offered to both men. UFC President Dana White says the fight was offered to both the “Notorious” one and “The Diamond” for January 23. McGregor and Poirier have both said they have no problem with the date and are ready to roll.
At first, McGregor was attempting to get an exhibition bout with Poirier going outside of the UFC. McGregor’s idea was to have the proceeds go to charity. While a rematch would have to take place under the UFC banner, McGregor still plans to donate $500,000 to Poirier’s The Good Fight Foundation.
McGregor has released footage of his training camp for the second Poirier fight. You can watch McGregor hit the pads below (via Chamatkar Sandhu).

With the retirement of Khabib Nurmagomedov, it leaves the UFC lightweight division wide open. Nurmagomedov was the 155-pound champion but he decided to retire. There’s no word on how the UFC will determine a new lightweight champion. One has to think McGregor and Poirier are in the running to compete for the vacant gold. Other 155-pounders such as Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler are also in play.
