WATCH: Dustin Poirier Scores Knockout Win Over Conor McGregor At UFC 257

The rematch between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier has come to a close.

McGregor and Poirier threw leather inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on January 23. The lightweight collision headlined UFC 257 (see results here). As mentioned, this was a rematch from September 2014. McGregor won their first encounter via first-round TKO and was looking for lightning to strike twice.

The tables have turned.

McGregor charged the center of the Octagon immediately. Poirier scored the takedown but McGregor was able to get back to his feet. In the clinch, both men exchanged shoulder strikes. McGregor landed knees to the body and an elbow over the top. McGregor landed some clean punches but Poirier landed a check left hook. Poirier found success with the calf kicks.

In the second round, Poirier turned it up with the calf kicks and McGregor’s leg appeared to be bruised. The “Notorious” one wasn’t checking the kicks but he was starting to grab the leg. Poirier began to gain confidence with his jab. He landed a left hand over the top. McGregor was rocked and Poirier poured it on with punches. He dropped his opponent and followed up with ground-and-pound for the finish.

Here are video highlights of Poirier’s knockout win over McGregor (via UFC’s Twitter account).
