GLORY’s Rico Verhoeven earns TKO win in MMA debut

Rico Verhoeven, who has spent the last three years as GLORY’s heavyweight champion, has made his transition into the world of professional MMA in successful fashion.

Fighting in RXF (Real Xtreme Fighting) 20 Sibiu, Verhoeven headlined against Russia’s Viktor Bugotzki and scored an impressive TKO in the first round.

The Dutch ‘Prince of Kickboxing’ simply outclassed Bugotzki, got him on the ground, and made quick work with several hard punches to the face. At first it did look like Bugotzki was going to be able to make a match of this, landing several shots in the early going – but in the end this was to be Verhoeven’s day.

Verhoeven is looking to follow in the footsteps of Tyrone Spong, Mark Hunt, and Mirko Cro Cop as a world class kickboxer heading into MMA. This was a strong start.
