WATCH: Manny Pacquiao Vs. Oscar De La Hoya Throwback

With the boxing world on hold due to the coronavirus, Top Rank has decided to share classic bouts featuring top fighters. Check out this December 2008 bout between Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya. The bout took place inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In what was De La Hoya’s (39-6) last professional fight, the former lineal welterweight and light-middleweight champion was soundly defeated by Pacquiao (62-7-2). No titles were on the line, as it was just a showcase bout featuring two of the top boxers in the world. Pacquiao ended up controlling all aspects of the fight, even though he had to step up two weight classes compared to De La Hoya going down one. In the end, Pacquiao won via eighth-round TKO following a stoppage before the ninth could start.
