The main event may be different, but the fight card is still the same. Top Rank returns to the MGM Grand Conference Center on July 14 for another night of action.
Scheduled to be the new main event will be Mikaela Mayer v. Helen Joseph. Originally, set to headline the show, WBO Junior-Lightweight Champion Jamel Herring tested positive for COVID-19 a second time, forcing him out of his bout against Jonathan Oquendo. Before the fighters squared off in the ring, they squared off at the weigh-ins.
Mayer (12-0) became one of the first active competitors to test positive for the virus. She had to back out of her fight on June 9 as a result of testing positive. The 29-year-old was supposed to fight Melissa Hernandez inside the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in March. The fight and card she was on became one of the first New York events to be postponed by the coronavirus. She last fought in October, beating Alejandra Soledad Zamora via corner retirement.
Joseph lost her last bout to Delfine Persoon back in November via unanimous decision. Before that fight, she was 5-0-1 in her last six. The 31-year-old is a former Intercontinental Bantamweight Champion.
