WATCH: MSG and Boxing Community Thank First Responders

In the spirit of giving, the sports world has found a way to give thanks to the heroes of the world.

Boxers from the past and present, as well as the bodies involved in the sport, teamed up with Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corporation for a special video. The collaboration is a special “thank you” message to those risking their lives during the coronavirus pandemic. This includes doctors, nurses, and all other first responders.

The following were involved in the message, as well as their ties to MSG and New York:

Miguel Cotto: The first Puerto Rican to win titles in four different weight classes. Had a 10-2 record in MSG and fought the likes of Shane Mosley and Zab Judah. In 2017, Cotto had his retirement fight inside MSG against Sadam Ali

Oscar De La Hoya: Won the lineal title in three different weight classes. Founder of Golden Boy Promotions, which has held several events inside Madison Square Garden, including Canelo Alvarez bouts.

Gennadiy Golovkin: A two-time middleweight champion and considered one of the best boxers in the world. GGG has won seven fights inside MSG, four of them via knockout.

Laila Ali: Former Light-Heavyweight and Super-Middleweight Champion. Fought only once inside MSG and is the daughter of the late Muhammad Ali.

Gerry Cooney: World Heavyweight Title contender who is a true New Yorker. Fought ten times inside MSG and is a perfect 10-0.

Bernard Hopkins: 2020 International Boxing Hall of Famer who won the WBC Middleweight Title inside MSG against Felix Trinidad in 2001.

Amanda Serrano: Holder of nine titles in seven weight classes. Won the WBO Junior-Bantamweight and the WBO, WBAN, and WBC Featherweight Titles inside MSG.

Katie Taylor: Undisputed Lightweight Champion who beat Delfine Persoon back in 2019 in an MSG classic.

Michael Buffer: Legendary voice of boxing who made this debut inside MSG in 1983.

Michael Conlan: WBO Inter-Continental Featherweight Champion who has headlined several St. Patrick’s Day shows inside the Hulu Theater. The Olympic medalist is 6-0 inside MSG.

Lou DiBella: Boxing promotor (DiBella Entertainment) who is known for promoting some of the top female fighters in the world. Joined the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2020.

Todd DuBoef: President of Top Rank.

Heather Hardy: Former WBO Featherweight Champion who has fought inside MSG as an MMA fighter and a boxer.

Jamel Herring: WBO Junior-Lightweight Champion.

Eddie Hearn: Managing Director of Matchroom Boxing, who hosted Anthony Joshua’s MSG debut along with many other events.

Wladimir Klitschko: Two-time heavyweight champion who held onto gold from 2006-2015.

Andy Lee: Cousin to Tyson Fury, Lee is a former WBO Middleweight Champion.

Teofimo Lopez: IBF Lightweight Champion and currently 5-0 inside MSG.

Tom Loeffler: Founder of 360 Promotions.

Mikaela Mayer: NABF Super-Featherweight Champion who has competed in MSG twice.
