WBA Orders Jack-Bivol Purse Bid

Badou Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs), who won the WBA Light Heavyweight Championship against Nathan Cleverly during the undercard of Mayweather-McGregor back on Aug. 26, already has a purse bid order.

The WBA has ordered a bid between Jack and interim WBA champion Dmitry Bivol (11-0, 9 KOs). Bivol had been granted the right to face Cleverly, but since Jack won the title from Cleverly, Jack must now fulfill this obligated title fight.

The purse bid is scheduled for September 25 in Panama City.

Jack, however, does which to face WBC champion Adonis Stevenson in a title unification match. Under normal circumstances, this would be easy considering Jack and Stevenson both fight under Al Haymon. Now, however, Jack must vacate the WBA title for that fight to happen sooner than later.

Bivol, a rising star in the light heavyweight division, defeated Cedric Agnew via fourth-round TKO back in June.
