WBA Schedules Purse Bid Hearing for Yordenis Ugas Vs. Eimantas Stanionis

WBA has announced that a purse bid will take place on December 9 to hand over promotional rights for the fight between Yordenis Ugas and Lithuania’s Eimantas Stanionis.

The fight was mandated two months ago with Ugas’ “Super” welterweight title.

The bid will be held in Miami where all promoters registered with the WBA will be invited. They will be required to bid at least $200,000 or more. The bid will then be split 75/25 in favor of Ugas as the reigning champion.

The bout, which is part of a four-man box-off, was ordered on September 15. The sanctioning body intends to reduce the number of titlists to one.

Radzhab Butaev will face the winner of the Ugas vs Stanionis showdown.

He is coming off a win over Jamal James where he clinched the title via ninth-round stoppage. It was scheduled on October 30 at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.

As for Ugas, he is at the peak of his career, especially after defeating boxing’s only eight-division champion, Manny Pacquiao, in his last fight.

The 2008 Olympian entered the super-fight as a replacement for WBC/IBF welterweight titlist Errol Spence (27-0, 21KOs), who pulled out just eleven days before the fight.
