WBC champ Oscar Valdez to box Robson Conceicao in September
WBC Super Featherweight Champion Oscar Valdez (29-0, 23 KO) is set to fight Rio gold medalist Robson Conceicao (16-0, 8 KO) on September 10 in Arizona to kick off his shiny new multi-fight deal with Top Rank. Conceicao rose to fame for winning gold at the 2016 Games. He overwhelmed big names in the sport such as Lazaro Alvarez and Sofiane Oumiha without ever surrendering a single round.
However, Conceicao has not been able to replicate such antics since he turned pro. The 32-year-old has notched the biggest win of his pro boxing career over Luis Coria last October.
As for Oscar Valdez, he has been a knockout machine inside the boxing ring with 23 of 29 wins secured via KO. The 30-year-old Mexican boxer last stunned the boxing fraternity with a win over Miguel Berchelt in February, against whom he put on a career-best performance.
When it comes to the Valdez-Conceicao bout, the 30-year-old has the edge in terms of skills and experience. Valdez is a firm favorite in the contest, and he is likely to outfox his Brazilian opponent in September.
