WBSS Announce Cruiser Matchups

This week, the quarter finals of the World Boxing Super Series’ second cruiserweight tournament were announced, as eight fighters will attempt to win the Ali trophy.

The number one seed in the tournament, Mairis Briedis will face off against Noel Mikaelian of Germany, while the second see, Yunier Doritcos will battle Mateusz Masternak in a second quarterfinal. Both Briedis and Doritcos were semi-finalists in the first tournament, which saw Oleksandr Usyk walk away as the IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO cruiserweight champion.

The other two matchups will feature the third seed Krzysztof Glowacki, square off with Maksim Vlasov and the tournaments only undefeated fighters Ruslan Fayfer (23-0), who’s seeded fourth, and Andrew Tabiti (16-0) also will meet in the quarterfinals.

“We have an amazing lineup, with eight worthy challengers that rival last season’s sensational quality,” WBSS promoter Kalle Sauerland said. “Cruiserweight is one of the most exciting divisions. Just look at last season’s unbelievable matchups. So, we are looking forward to a new season.”
